My name is Cora

I grew up in rural Wisconsin,
a wild little kid

in love with the woods
and with music

I started writing songs at seven

spending hours
lost in my own little world
at the piano

…if one photo could sum up my childhood…

When I was twelve,
I started performing in my hometown

A few years later,
a friend took me under his wing
and produced my first album

After that experience,
I was hooked
on record production

But I didn’t want a music career

At that youthful age,
I was filled in a burning idealism;
A desire to take on and change the world!

So I went to college
to study development economics
focusing on trade policy in México & Ghana

Internships and ethnographic studies
allowed me to study trade impacts from the ground

And I made short documentaries
instead of papers only my professors would read

Still music was a constant

Between study trips and finals
I studied audio engineering
and produced another record

From that moment forward
my path has been a fabric;
different elements woven together…

…teaching songwriting…
…working in criminal justice…
…songwriting and producing hundreds of demos…

A week after my 29th birthday,
I moved to China to teach English

I met José Luis Vílchez,
an artist and fellow travel junkie

He had the most harebrained idea

To travel Alaska to Argentina in a bus
creating art along the way

I jumped aboard

But not before
finishing four records
it took eight years to build

Then we moved across the world
to begin the Art We There Yet project

And that is where
you find me today

Traveling across the Americas
making music and murals
connecting with communities

…the route…
…the space…
…the spirit…

My hope?

To create a body of musical works
that celebrate the beauty of the Americas
and the strength in our diversity

Only time will tell
what happens next
